SYDNEY HIGH SCHOOL VISIT
On May 9, 2023, Sydney Girls High School hosted over 100 students from a variety of schools an afterschool information session at the School’s Governors Centre. Challenge Mentors, Dr Pooria Lesani and Dr Peter Newman, shared their passion for their work in biotechnology. Everyone enjoyed being with such a diverse range of like-minded people, and many participating students went on to complete outstanding projects in 2023.
JUNE 2023
TRIP TO GRIFFITH NSW SCHOOLS
REGIONAL COMMUNITIES
BIOTech Futures had an amazing time at Murrumbidgee Regional High School, where we had the pleasure of engaging with over 200 brilliant young minds from 6 schools in the region! Our full-day event included hands-on activities such as opportunities to try out VR and build prototypes, and see nano-robots in action. These amazing students are a testament to the bright future of STEM in Australia, and we are so grateful to have been a part of their learning.
As year 10 students from a rural school, it is not often that we are presented with opportunities as freely as those students in the city and to find out that a Sydney University had invited us was incredibly encouraging for us all. Personally, the section of the day that I enjoyed the most was the presentations by the professors. They were engaging and were an enjoyable way for us to learn more about fields of biology that I would have otherwise been unaware of

WORKSHOPS AND NETWORKING
MENTOR EVENTS
To fortify the capabilities of our mentors, we provided a series of workshops and social events to support and uplift them. We hosted an information session, which was crucial in the development of their mentorship skills and allowed mentors to be fully equipped to support teams. This continued into a networking night, sparking connections between various disciplines and educational levels. In a subsequent session, the theme "How to be a Good Mentor" was explored by guest presenter and mentor, Pascale Bridge from Abbott Diabetes Care.
